@Arken: Me too. I can see avoiding fruit juices and dried fruit (both of which are easy ways for you to effectively demolish several pieces of fruit at once) but no fruit at all? Nope.

Snarky I know but the 1 day off a week couldn’t help but remind me

I ate very similarly when doing my first round of P90X. It worked rather well.
SexyPants
@RubiksCube: Bingo.
Green Man
@romevi04: I bought a Kinect and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. It’s brilliant – it will completely kick your arse in 20 minutes a day. Added bonus: I felt so good about exercising at home that I ended up going back to my long-unused gym to start lifting weights again.
I haven’t done P90X, but I considered it. The problem that I foresaw with it was that you have to be self-disciplined and do the reps and keep your form perfect. Great if you’re disciplined, but personally I know I’d end up cheating. The Kinect will yell at you if you’re cheating or your form sucks. It’s awesome.

Any diet that restricts my fruit intake can die in a fire. I hope slow carbs = slow burning.

@Volanova: But the body is a gadget! And this one book is all you need to figure that gadget out. Ever.
No other diet will ever be this good. Ever.

Something tells me he’s getting paid to say he microwaves things in pyrex
Se7en_speed
@butaneko: Its not as hard as it sounds, but yeah it isn’t a great long term diet. There are, however, great sprouted grain options that are much better for you than flour based foods.

I’m 5’8” and 135 pounds. Should I try this diet?
The Squalor and the Fury
Rule 1:
Kirosia
@klyph: Yeah it depends on what you’re eating, but I’ve been experimenting with a diet similar to this, and it uses much more fruit (and home made soy/hemp milk) and no animal products at all. First of all, simple sugars are very important when doing strenuous workouts, so not eating sugar isn’t good if you work out 5 days a week like I do. Sprouting your beans/legumes nets a huge nutrient boost as well.

I like how the article starts with “Tim Ferriss has tried a lot of diets.” and the article author is actually Tim Ferriss.
Did FriarNurgle miss the it’s talk in the 3rd person day memo?

And the people advised to get their potassium from OJ and bananas are thinking of all the money they saved not buying this book.
infmom
Why not. I need to drop another 15 pounds of fat to muscle. (5’8″, 157) Gonna try this out.

But in just seven days I can make you a man…
Batmanuel
I sense some Atkins’ish vibes to this.
Red_Flag
@Arken: The concepts he’s teaching here aren’t anything groundbreaking. The smart lifting community has been following an approach like this for some time now.
IMO, when trying to lose fat, you can eat fruit but it should be treated as a desert and limited to one item. Too many people will eat bowls of sliced fruit.
Low-carb isn’t really low-carb anyway — people are just so accustomed to eating insanely high carbohydrate diets. I like his term slow-carb.
zephyr_words
@Arken: For me it’s the fruit juice. I go through a carton of orange juice a week easily
Dickeydoo
apparently the not:bodyhack or not:(whatever you want) no longer works. shame, I wanted to not this stuff.
Marshmallow (isn’t Stay Puft Man)
Rule -1: Timothy Ferris is the smart version of an Associated Content writer. He basically poorly sources other people’s information with a mix of pseudo-science and B.S. to create great best-sellers!
almondrickrossroca
At the end of the day, everyone knows the formula to lose weight.
The problem is most people cannot find the motivation to go out and do so, whether dieting, exercising, or a life-style overhaul.
The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge.
RubiksCube
@Volanova: I agree, especially seeing as this is the second “article” promoting this book in two days. And I’m sure we’ll see more of it.
icu32
There’s more than one way to get rid of that unwanted evil weight.
FriarNurgle
1. why are there multiple posts about this book?
2. “RULE 4: DON’T EAT FRUIT.” yeah, let’s not eat stuff that’s actually good for you.
csc3
Did Giz get hacked again? This looks like an ad disguised as a post.
uu_ugene
beans are so gross. sucks.
Mpowered
Shouldn’t this be tagged as an advertisement? Or am I completely off base in wondering why this is on Gizmodo? Lifehacker, maybe…
Volanova
interesting
Slinkytech
Rather than cutting out fruit, I would cut out the one day to go nuts and eat whatever you want. Fruit is good for you.
klyph
So while we’re on the topic of health and nutrition–since my post is slightly deviant, slightly–I’m going to be trying the P90X program soon.
Fellow nerds: Anyone else starting? I know of some other friends who are doing it, but it’d be great to know of some Internet buddies who are interested to keep on track.
romevi04
No grains period? Ugh.
butaneko
Diet Plan: Eat less
Even Better Diet Plan: Eat less, and exercise.

RULE 4: DON’T EAT FRUIT.
Deal-breaker.
