Hasbro Brings NERF Lazer Tag to Smartphone Era
There will always be room for more smartphone-connected laser guns. We have already seen Xappr do its thing, now it is prominent toymaker Hasbro introduces its take by combining Augmented Reality Shooting and old-school Laser Tag.
The NERF Lazer Tag system is redone and updated for the smartphone-crazy generation, allowing users to plug their iPhone or iPod Touch to the plastic guns, providing the devices with an augmented HUD view. Users can either play against virtual players or fellow smartphone-NERF-totting friends.
The game experience is enhanced with new attacks and unlocked gear as you play. The app will even display your shot’s trajectory, giving players an idea how precise your blast would be.
The 2012 edition of Lazer Tag will hit retail beginning August 1 with individual toy guns costing $ 40, while a set of two is priced $ 70.

Xappr Turns Smartphones Into Zapper Guns
You could do virtually anything on your smartphone, but there are so many things it has yet to do. Metal Compass comes with a brilliant idea of converting your smartphone into a functioning laser gun.
The Xappr allows smartphone owners to play various augmented reality and shooting games. It works, so far, with more than 10 AR games that enable players intercept alien spaceships, find and eliminate ghosts, fight evil robots, and hunt a horde of zombies.
The accessory is compatible with iPhones and Android handsets, while a model for Windows smartphones are in the works.
The Xappr will have its public debut in the international toy fair to be held in Nuremberg, Germany beginning February 1. Metal Compass now accept pre-orders from customers in United States, Canada, and Europe, for only $ 30 (plus shipping and handling), with shipping for the Xappr begins in June.
