The Nike+ SportWatch GPS Has TomTom and an Attitude [Nike]
It’s a new year, which means new resolutions to get in shape. Let technology help you! Don’t fight it! The Nike+ SportWatch, powered by TomTOM GPS, will bug you when you forget to run and encourage you when you do. More »
and this is where they got their inspiration from.

@Deep-Blue: Actually I think tom tom is giving the discount. You’re right–whatever nike puts in will work, and tom tom surely knows that. However, if my watch has a tom tom in it, I am more likely to buy a tom tom than a garmin. You got your marketing gimmick backwards. Nike has nothing to lose and tom tom has everything to gain, and you bet every suit with an MBA at both companies know that.

@wætherman: It still requires the shoe sensor.

No music? Really?

@Deep-Blue:
Sure it doesn’t use their proprietary tech?

Price?

The new nano seems to have ushered in a new watch generation. More touchscreens in the future, I’m thinking. Which makes you wonder, what will Rolex’s first touchscreen watch be like, if they ever make one.

What a fail. I remember when nike+ ipod just came out on the today show and the said gps watches were obselete now.

Im confused – is the gps in the watch or the shoe?
wætherman
I owned the last nike+ running watch (Amp+) and the build quality was terrible. It died within 6 months. I hope they upped their game between now & then…

When it comes to GPS sport watches, I favor altitude over ‘attitude’…

Any word on price?

@Mutsumi Mitsuba: No. You can get little holders for any shoe for a few dollars online. I have a little..holder(?)…that slide through my laces on the outside of my nike free (w/o sensor hole).

“Powered by TomTOM GPS”? Seriously?
A GPS receiver is a GPS receiver, generally speaking. How about you cut the price 20% and drop the useless brand name?
Deep-Blue
Is this a watch band using the new iPod Nano or actually a sports watch from nike?
murtadi007
does nike+ only work the sensor in some of their shoes?
because i have size 17 feet i cannot find a pair to fit me ;(
Mutsumi Mitsuba
This will allow you to watch time run by.

its a good looking watch but the Garmin 405 is just as thick and has the gps built in. seems sort of silly for Nike to still have to rely on the chip for your shoe.

Ahahaha. “Come on, Sharon… just a quickie. Yeah. Faster. Other hand now. Faster. Faster. AHHHHHH. Workout complete… sleep mode activated.”
Potentially #nsfw image in reply?
Edit: Other than the obvious south park reference, that’s actually a pretty cool idea. It almost makes me want to run… except I live in hilltop in Tacoma and I’d prefer not to get shot and stabbed. For a Nike product, that thing is actually pretty sexy though. I give it my blyan stamp of approval.

I hope there’s some way to make it use that Yoda voice they have for TomTom’s navigators
